“Sherri is absolutely amazing – she does phenomenal work! She captured Jackson’s little sneaky expressions so well! The pictures of Jackson are just whole hearted love.” – Courtney
When should I book my session?
It is never too early to book a session with me! I tend to book a few months in advance so it is best to contact me as soon as you decide you would like to do a session. I only schedule a select number of sessions per month so that I can provide each client with the attention and service they deserve.
The best time to schedule a newborn session is while you are still pregnant! Please contact me a few months before your baby is born, so that I can mark your due date on my calendar for you. Once your baby is born, you will notify me within 48 hours and I will confirm a specific date and time with you (typically within the first 4-12 days after birth).
Can I book a session if my newborn has already arrived?
Absolutely! Because I only schedule a select number of sessions a month, I will be less likely to have any availability within 4-12 days after your baby’s birth, but I will try my best to schedule you in if possible! Sessions can be booked at any age, however we may not get the typical curled up, sleepy look of a newborn with an older baby.
Are parent shots included in my session?
Yes, I would love to capture the sweet bond between parents and their newborn baby. Parent shots are typically done at the end of the session. Due to limited space, I am unable to offer family photos with multiple children.
Sibling shots are also available at no additional cost. Please let me know prior to your session if you wish to have siblings photographed with your newborn. These photos will be done at the beginning of the session. Due to limited space, please have someone available to take the siblings home following these photos as they are unable to tolerate the length of a newborn session and tend to become a distraction.
Where will my session take place?
Sessions take place in my Calgary home studio where I have access to all my props and optimal lighting. For babies 6 months and older, part of your session may be shot outdoors in a nearby park, weather permitting. Family sessions are done outdoors.
What is a typical session like?
Newborn sessions typically last 3 hours. This allows time for feeding, changing and soothing your baby. Baby sessions (6 months – 1 year) are typically 1 hour in length. This includes multiple outfit changes. My goal is to keep you and your newborn/baby comfortable throughout your session. Know that your baby’s safety is my top priority. You will receive further information once you have booked a session with me.
How can I prepare for my session?
Once your session is booked, you will receive further details which will help prepare you and your little one for your session, including what to wear and what to expect during your session.
What should my baby wear?
Newborns are typically nude or partially nude for their session. Please dress them in clothing that is easy to remove and doesn’t need to be taken off over their head as this will waken them easily. If you are booking a session for your baby aged 3-12 months, please see this INSPIRATION BOARD for clothing ideas.
Can you take my family photos as well?
I wish to focus on newborn and baby sessions, however I am currently offering a very limited amount of family sessions during the warm summer months.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to CONTACT me. I look forward to hearing from you!
